Alumnus joins prestigious Musical Theatre Writing Workshop

September 3, 2019

Alumnus Mark Schenfisch (BM Composition, 2015) will join New York City’s prestigious Advanced BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Writing Workshop this fall after 2 years in the pre-advanced workshop of the same name.  The “BMI Workshop” is an audition-only workshop created in 1961 with the goal of instructing promising new generations of musical theatre writers in the craft of theatrical songwriting.

Alongside lyricist Sam Balzac, Schenfisch composed music for a joint presentation this past May, which served as the songwriting duo’s audition for the advanced workshop. They recently teamed up with bookwriter Allison Frasca (All Star: The Best Broadway Musical), and are currently writing a musical adaptation of a popular web series about video gamers.
